General Diving Information
for Live aboard

Diving services onboard are provided by Sea Explorers Dive School (www.seamaldives.com) a PADI 5* Gold Palm Facility # 9584. We will provide 2 to 3 dives per day except on the day of arrival and the day of departure. We advise you to wait a minimum of 24 hours after your final dive before flying.

During the week one night dive will be scheduled. That day will be 2 day dives and 1 night dive. Extra dives may be possible following consultation with the Dive Master and Captain, depending on the scheduled route and program of other guests.

Occasionally, due to the scheduled route or adverse weather conditions, it may not be possible to conduct three dives on a particular day. (Force majeure) While we will attempt to make up this dive on another day we cannot guarantee that this will be possible.

Following Maldivian law, no dive should be deeper than 30 meters. We recommend that each repetitive dive be shallower than those preceding it. Due to the repetitive nature of live aboard diving, each dive should be a maximum of 45 minutes. All dives should be planned as no-decompression stop dives. We advise strongly that all divers dive with a computer and follow the safety procedures accordingly. A number of computers are available for rent.

In the Maldives most dives are drift dives. The boat will follow the divers and pick them up after they surface. Dives will be conducted in small groups each led by a divemaster. Divers should dive as buddy pairs and it is advised to stay with your group. Begin your ascent when one of the buddy pair reaches 50 bar of air remaining or when dive time is 45 minutes. It is advised to make a safety stop at the end of every dive by remaining at a depth of 5 meters for 3 minutes. Surface marker balloons are provided and should be deployed while you are making your safety stop.

The Dive Master will give a briefing before every dive, please attend and listen to these briefings and ask questions when needed. The diver is responsible for her/his own dive plan within the framework given by the Dive Master. If you require the direct assistance of the Dive Master please say so.

Extra dives and equipment rental will be charged. Loss of rental equipment will be charged accordingly as per price list on board.

As a 5* PADI facility, Sea Explorers offer a full range of PADI courses including open water, advanced open water and many specialty courses. In order to ensure that we have the necessary equipment and instructors available, we would ask you to please indicate prior to arrival if you would like to take part in any courses.
